| This photo was taken on the U.S./Mexico border in Arizona on March 6, 2007. It shows a man dressed in military fatigues working on a border vehicle barrier. Recent reports of overruns on the cost of construction of fencing and barriers prompted American Border Patrol to research its photo files from Operation BEEF to see how many times it took pictures of what appears to be the National Guard working on border fencing or border barriers. So far it has more than 30 photos of this kind, raising the question: How could the cost of building border fencing and barriers be so high if much of the work was done by the National Guard? |
