U.S.
Must Curb the Influx of Aliens
On Nov. 27, 1979, the Los Angeles Police Commission,
following directions from the Los Angeles City Council, issued
Special Order 40, prohibiting cooperation between the police
department and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Special
Order 40, in effect, created a sanctuary for illegal aliens in
Los Angeles, a city that will soon have a Mexican majority. ---
In the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility
Act, Congress specifically prohibited restrictions between federal
and local law enforcement.

Anti-Immigrant
Rally Fails to Catch Fire on LI
Suppose you gave an anti- immigrant rally and
nobody came? That's nearly what happened Saturday when the number
of conspiracy theories seemed to exceed the number of participants
at a so-called educational conference sponsored by the Sachem
Quality of Life Organization. -- "It's going to be a
great American moment," Ray Wysolmierski, the group's spokesman,
predicted about 30 minutes before the extravaganza was to begin,
according to a news report.
